  • High school students and their parents gain information about technical training programs focused on intensive, hands-on training designed to help students obtain a career/skillset. This event will highlight information about various programs, their requirements, and potential outcomes for students.

  • This event will be hosted on Facebook and YouTube Live.
  • Parents gain information about the assessments that will be given at the end of the school year and how the results can be used to support summer learning. 

Virtual Mini-Academy: Military Options for Graduating Seniors: How to Decide Which Branch is for You

  • Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.
  • High school students and their parents will meet local recruiters  and gain information from our armed forces on the process and opportunities available for seniors interested in enlisting in the military.

Virtual Mini-Academy: Family Literacy Night

  • Monday, April 8, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.
  • Join fellow parents and caregivers in an engaging evening to  share, learn, have fun, and walk away with tangible ways to build literacy into your day-to-day lives and support your child in their reading and learning. During this event, you can expect: Opportunities to engage with fellow parents/caregivers , chat and discussion prompts, and literacy activities and resources to use at home.

  • High school students and their parents will meet admissions representatives and gain information from Hispanic serving post-secondary institutions, including the programs and grants available to assist Hispanic students  in taking advantage of these educational opportunities.

  • Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.
  • High school students and their parents will meet admissions representatives and gain information about the programs and certifications available from our own Orange Technical College, with campuses across Orlando.

Virtual Mini-Academy: FREE Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Options for Families in OCPS

  • Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.
  • Families of students who will be four years old by September 1, 2024 will gain information about the school district’s FREE full and half-day voluntary pre-kindergarten programs, including how to enroll.

Virtual Mini-Academy:Multilingual Storytelling Night

  • Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 6:00 P.M.
  • Elementary school students and their families grab your favorite snack to listen to a bilingual children’s book read in Portuguese and English. After the story is read, families will  participate in engaging activities together!

Full-Day Conference: Transitioning to Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Adulting

The OCPS Parent Academy is committed to making a sustainable impact on student success, parenting and advocacy and personal growth/wellness. Our goal is to empower, engage and educate families and caregivers by providing high-quality training sessions, resources and access to skills and services.

The OCPS Parent Academy offers district-wide, face-to-face Parent AcademiesLearn Where You Live events which take place in each learning community, and virtual Lunch & Learn events on Facebook Live.  

In addition to the OCPS Parent Academy events, there are monthly trainings held by the Curriculum and Digital Learning, Discipline, Exceptional Student Education, Multilingual Services, Professional Learning and Student Services departments for families.
